Boys by Girls - The Puzzle

An incomplete puzzle can be infuriating. The absense of that missing piece birthing an underlying frustration, a confusing feeling of inadequacy and loss. Not having that significant part of what makes something whole can play on the mind, teasing and testing clouding judgements and consuming your thoughts. Will the puzzle complete? Sometimes it’s unbeknown that anything is missing in the first place, until it is found. And when you find it; finding the clue that connects the dots, finding the word that fills the gap in the story, finding that person that makes you feel whole, everything falls into place. Maryan is one of these pieces.

Photographer Ophélie Rondeau reunites with brother Maryan Lukaszczyk after 12 long years, embracing the moment of connection and reliance in the heart of France with Metropolitan Models' Timothée Passy, Oussama Guessoum and Toni L. Having previously only shot groups of females in her work, waves of instant inspiration overcame Ophéilie upon reconnecting with younger brother, Maryan, after their devastatingly distant upbringings. Stimulated in brand new ways, in this series of images she finds great clarity in her decisions to shoot the boys in her signature way. Vibrant colours seeping into her work, and the once muted tones of the siblings' lives, being refreshed and invigorated by one another.

It's discovery of a reason, a friend, a muse. Over time, the once seemingly insignificant and unthought of ideals revolutionise life, challenging the silent demons that delight in consuming our minds. Photograph after photograph, piece by piece - the larger image taking shape. In their quest to complete their puzzles, Ophélie and Maryan is one step closer in completing theirs. Nothing tastes quite as sweet as finding that missing piece.
